Changes to Nevada's Minimum Wage and Overtime Regulations

Assembly Bill 456, enacted in 2019, gradually increased the minimum wage by 75 cents annually over five years. The final increase, effective July 1, 2024, will set Nevada’s minimum wage at $12 per hour.

Nevada Ballot Question 2, approved by voters in November 2022, abolished the two-tier minimum wage system that allowed a reduction in the required minimum wage if employers provided qualified health benefits. Unless otherwise exempted by law, the $12 minimum wage applies to all employees in Nevada.

The increase in the minimum wage will also raise the daily overtime rates, except for employees exempt from overtime requirements under NRS 608.018.

Employees in Nevada earning one and one-half times the minimum wage ($18 per hour) or more are eligible for overtime at one and one-half times their regular rate for hours worked beyond 40 in a week.

Employees earning less than $18 per hour are eligible for overtime at one and one-half times their regular rate for hours worked over 8 in a 24-hour period or over 40 in a workweek.
